Assessment of serum NTproBNP concentration for differentiation of congestive heart failure from primary respiratory tract disease as the cause of respiratory signs in dogs

چکیده
D between causes of respiratory distress in animals that have acute signs is challenging. Clinical signs are generally nonspecific and can result from congestive heart failure as well as primary respiratory tract disease. Data gathered through medical history, physical examination, and thoracic radiography can be ambiguous or nonconfirmatory. Differentiation of the common causes of respiratory signs (ie, coughing, stertor, stridor, excessive panting, increased respiratory effort, tachypnea, or overt respiratory distress) is essential to optimize management and outcome. Thus, a blood-based assay to differentiate between cardiac versus noncardiac (ie, primary respiratory tract disease) causes of respiratory signs would be useful. Evaluation of Serum NT-proBNP Levels in Dogs with Respiratory Distress Associated with Heart disease and Respiratory Disease
The association between severity of heart disease and serum N-terminal prohormone B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) was determined in dogs presented with respiratory distress. Four groups of dogs were divided into healthy control (n=11), heart failure (n=58), heart disease without heart failure (n=17) and respiratory disease (n=20). Serum NT-proBNP concentrations were measured with an ELIS...

On June 2005, a respiratory disease was observed in the chickens of a large broiler farm in Kermanshahprovince, west of Iran. Relatively severe respiratory signs started with sneezing at 27 days of age. Thedisease lasted up to the end of fattening period and accompanied by increased mortality (13.6%). At postmortemexamination, tracheitis, airsacculitis and pneumonia were obvious. Serologic exam...

Canine parainfluenza virus (CPiV) is one of the most common organisms isolated from dogs with signs of infectious tracheobronchitis (ITB). Distribution is apparently worldwide. Although CPiV may cause mild clinical infections, clinical diseases is expected to be more severe in dogs co-infected with bordetella bronchiseptica than with any these agents alone. The present study was conducted to d...
متن کاملMolecular detection of infectious bronchitis and Newcastle disease viruses in broiler chickens with respiratory signs using Duplex RT-PCR
Infectious bronchitis (IB) and Newcastle disease (ND) are highly contagious and the most economically important diseases of the poultry affecting respiratory tract and causing economic losses in poultry industry throughout the world. In the present study, the simultaneous detection and differentiation of causative agents of these diseases were investigated using duplex-RT-PCR. RNA was extracted...
